Continuing our previews of some of the biggest and hottest shows coming to your digital telly's in 2010, we bring you the biggest musical talent search in the world.

That's right folks, American Idol is back for its massive 9th year and like this years' X Factor in the UK, the show has undergone a few changes.

The biggest shock has to be the loss of Paula Abdul. Those drunken moments caught on camera and the ridiculous comments that she made will be greatly missed. But let's look on the bright side... ultimate gay comedienne, Ellen DeGeneres is joining the show as a brand new judge! So expect some witty humour from the new gal on the block. Simon better watch out!

The show begins: Tuesday, 12th January 2010 (in the USA and shortly after on ITV2).
